I have passed the Fat Boy so many times in my travels through West Columbia. I finally decided to stop in for lunch this week. I went through the drive thru, as I was on a quick lunch break. The property is very old and run down looking and is on the edge of an old shopping center, also very run down. This restaurant has an identity crisis. They appear to heavily promote "Greek" food, burgers, bbq, chicken sandwiches, and other traditional fast food items. Oh boy, Fat Boy. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, made it a "basket" (fries, slaw, drink), for which I was told my total would be over $10. Kind of high for a dumpy fast food joint. Once I arrived at the window to pay, I handed over my card and was told there was a $0.50 fee to use a credit card. Really? I'm pretty sure places aren't supposed to do that anyway as part of a merchant agreement with the credit card companies, but aside from that is very cheap and petty to do. If you're really worried about that $0.50 just add it into your prices. Although, I think they already did add an extra $0.50 into their pricing several times over. Burger and fries were OK - absolutely nothing special, and certainly not worth the price. For $10 I could hit up any burger joint in town for a delicious gourmet burger meal. Not horrible, but for the reasons mentioned above, I don't think I'll be back. Not sure how this places stays open, to be honest.

This place goes in waves. You'll go and it is the best thing you've had in a while, or you'll go and it's the worst thing you've had in a while. Can't beat a gyro/greek salad you can get from a drive- thru window when you are in a hurry, but I started coming here for the burgers and chicken. I generally stick to the BURGERS (I go out of my way a couple times a year for their burgers). The veggies are FRESH and hand cut. The burgers are cooked to order on an old flat top, and seasoned which lots of fast food doesn't do. Good fries too.

Have passed this place for a couple of years now, and decided to give it a try. Onion rings were very greasy and undercooked, and the hamburger was no better than Wendy's or McDonald's. I don't like gyros, or I would give them another chance. Even the baklava was ordinary...It is doubtful that I will return.

Good prices and great food for a local dive and that's with respect for this place ! The Gyro platter was hot and fresh toppings and service was good. Prices were good for the buck and the place is clean and easy access to the main street.When in Columbia,S.C. stop by for a taste.

Holy Crap! The WORST Gyro I've ever had. Locals: I'm glad you like the gyros here, if you want to retain the love, never, and I do quite seriously mean never, have a gyro any place else ever in your life. Compared to gyros I've had at shacks on the side of the road in Indiana, dumps in Chicago, and chains in Michigan, this was horrific. The meat was slimy and tasteless. The color was a bland gray, a clear indicator that someone who had no clue what they were doing, prepared this. Perhaps the oddest thing was the shape and consistency of the patty. This was not shaven from a hunk of meat that's been roasting, but prepared, thrown in a fridge and then fried on a grill when ordered. Even the fries were lack luster, floppy, and old tasting. Out of towners: If you've ever had a gyro somewhere else, know what you're getting yourself into. This.... is disgusting.

This place has a lot of stuff I want to try. We have placed our order and I was told it would be ten minutes on my BROASTED chicken. I like knowing the expectations of how long it will be if it might take a while. :-) Our gyro platter came out quickly and is fabulous! The Greek dressing is excellent. I love the retro feel of this restaurant. My BROASTED chicken just arrived and it was totally worth the wait. Next time we are passing through Columbia we will stop and try the fried mushrooms.

Worst gyros ever! The gyro was so greasy that it poured out of it like a water fall. I will never go back here. They are a poor excuse of a restaurant.

Fried chicken is the best dish I sampled here, with second being the gyro. That is not to say they're great, but the prices were at least not too high. "Homemade" chili is delicious but only in small quantities because it is so oily and full of crappy ingredients, so get it on the hot dogs which are tasteless bare. I was really disappointed by the chili dogs that I'd ordered due to the meat, and ordered the smallest size of chili only (a PINT for over $5). It was so disgusting on its own that I pitched it. Onion rings are incredibly crispy...fountain drink sizes are medium (12 oz) or large (16 oz) with free refills.

The cheeseburger and fries were great. The burger is pretty basic but tasty. Fries are with skin on and pretty delectable. I will be back to try the gyros and the baklava. The gyros are from a reputable source and should be decent.

I have passed this place a million times. Never really wanted to stop ... But boy am I glad that I did! Decided to get a gyro - through the drive thru - no less. Wow! It was huge in size and flavor. The onion and tzaziki sauce were in just the right amount on top of mounds of meat! Only reason I did not give 5 stars was because the fries were just ordinary and kinda soggy. But I would definitely go back. And next time I will try something new.
